Message from President

The adventure tourism, recreation and sports sector is growing at an exponential rate both as an industry as well as a lifestyle trend, especially among the younger generation. Thus, the industry has tremendous opportunities but demands more specialized professionals to support the spiraling growth. Careers in outdoor adventure and recreation is very rewarding in terms of jobs, income and most importantly, personal development!

I am inspired and drawn to outdoor adventure partly because of my personal values, character or personality and partly because of the intrinsic and innate nature of outdoor adventure.

The song from Pocohontas, “What’s around the river bend?!” captures and embodies my curiosity in life. It is so me! Adventure enables my quest for the new, the different, the possibility. I have started the Himalayan School of Outdoor Recreation to be myself and let my urges go free. I no longer want a boundary between work and leisure, creating a content and fulfilling 24X7 living. I hope to share the power of outdoor adventure in inspiring this realization and consciousness in the young generation.

Outdoor recreation or adventure is in itself a transformative experience because of the challenges, obstacles, conflicts, tolerance, vulnerability, loss and achievement that is inherent in the experience. The adventure experiences enable a realization how small and susceptible we are yet we can also be empowered to defeat nature and science. Outdoor adventure takes us away from the noises of civilization and society, allowing us to hear the voices within us stifled by modern distraction. I hope to regenerate a young generation meaningfully resolved to live a more full-filling life.
